Home & Living

Your own home is an emotional sponge for wealth: around 70 per cent of the wealth of Generation Experience is tied up in it. We look at it in the light of your stage of life: as a home, as an asset and as a source of income.

Your home is quality of life, and often your largest asset. We show you how your property fits into your financial and emotional future.

  • Owner-occupied homeKeep, modernise, adapt for later life or sell? We work through the options.
  • Residences & second homesWays of living in Germany and abroad: a holiday home, several homes, relocating.
  • Property liquidityUsing the wealth tied up in your property to secure your standard of living: sale, equity release, partial sale, moving.
  • Tax aspectsOptimising use, income and handover.

A home that fits your stage of life

The house where your children grew up is rarely the house that suits you at 75. We talk early on about accessibility, location, being close to family and to care and services, and about whether and when a move makes sense. Not as a loss, but as a gain in freedom and liquidity.

Property and income

If you want to secure your standard of living, you can include your property: by letting it, by selling and moving somewhere smaller, through equity release (Immobilienverrentung) or a partial sale. Which solution fits depends on your family, your tax position and your wishes. To put it into practice, we work with estate agents and tax advisers from our network.

Frequently asked questions

Should I pass the house on to my children and carry on living in it?

That can make sense for tax purposes, but it needs clear rules on the right of residence, usufruct (Nießbrauch) and long-term care. We clarify this under Wealth Transfer, together with a lawyer and a tax adviser.

Is a second home abroad realistic?

For many people, yes. What matters is tax, health insurance, residency rights and the question of where your wealth “lives”. This is part of our advice on international matters and geo-arbitrage.
